Victoria Boyce, MKin, CSEP-CEP
Growing up, Victoria thrived on having an active lifestyle, from playing sports such as badminton, curling, and figure skating to participating in fitness classes such as barre, pilates, and spin. After graduating high school, Victoria attended the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in kinesiology and a minor in psychology in Spring 2018. During her fourth year, Victoria worked as an athletic trainer for both women’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams where she learned different techniques for taping, concussion management, and led team training sessions.
Following graduation, Victoria decided to take a gap year to give her more time to figure out her next steps. During this time, she worked as a child development assistant in a daycare. Victoria explored other opportunities for education and discovered the Master of Kinesiology (MKin) program at the University of Calgary, and started the program in Fall 2019. Throughout the completion of the program, Victoria gained work and volunteer experience with a variety of chronic disease populations including: volunteering for an inpatient neuro rehabilitation exercise program, working as a teaching assistant for undergraduate kinesiology courses, a practicum placement with the Primary Care Network treating musculoskeletal and chronic pain populations, and a practicum placement with the University of Calgary’s Health and Wellness Lab treating oncology populations through research and leading virtual group-based exercise classes. After graduating in Spring 2021 and a long summer of studying, Victoria successfully received her Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP).
Victoria currently lives in Edmonton, Alberta and works as a full time kinesiologist with CBI Health Group, helping to rehabilitate motor vehicle accident and Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) clients. Her primary roles include: designing and implementing therapeutic exercise programs to meet the individualized client needs as well as completing Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET) for various companies such as Canada Post and West Jet to confirm applicant capability of essential job demands.
If not at work, you can find Victoria out walking her dog or in the kitchen experimenting with new soup recipes!
